I really have to try not to lose my cool at work. We get some of the whackiest people calling it seems. I get calls about everyday where Someone annoys me enough to where i just transfer them to someone else. Heres an example of a woman who called me this morning....
Me: Good Morning, Adams Homes!
Lady: Yes hi, um, My name is So-and-So, can I talk to Sharna please?
Me: Sharna is actually out of the office today would u like to leave her a voicemail?
Lady: *long pause* Well, i Have a closing next week on the 12th!
Me: Ok.. well Sharna is the only one here who handles that im sorry...
Lady: You have got to be kidding me. There has GOT to be someone there.
Me: Nope there really isn't, If u want to leave her a message.. I can leave it---
Lady: *interuppting me haha* WHAT IF SHARNA DIED?? THEN who would take my call!?
Me: That is an awful thing to say...
Lady: No it isn't mam. Death is INEVITABLE!!
Me: Ok well let me find someone to take your call. *CLICK!*
I ended up putting her straight to Sharna's voicemail. Haha, but did anyone find her incredibly uncalled for?? Cause i sure did. haha. The longer i work here, The THINNER my patience wears. UGH!

This is seriously a hilarious conversation... People are idiots! I love your response..."that is an awful thing to say." I don't know what I would have said if I was asked the same question. I agree with the comment above me.... PRICELESS!

I was at a secretaries conference this week and we actually had a workshop on phone etiquette! Are you kidding me? I'd like to see how that lady handles some of the calls we get!

That is so funny, but I worked in the mortgage industry for 4 years so I also know that it is absolutely true! People get really, really testy when it comes to home closings and can be INCREDIBLY rude! But I understand--it's a HUGE investment. The lady sounded nuts, though. I was chuckling cause I was writing a dialogue on my blog too.
I had to laugh too! I worked in the mortgage side of things for 6 years and I had some doozies. It is a huge investment so people tend to freak, but oh my gosh I can't believe she actually said that!!! I too love your response... "thats an awful thing to say". ROTFL!!!
Oh that's nasty! WHY do people feel that they can be rude to everyone? Obnoxious. Good job with the voice mail, I'm impressed you didn't hang up.

Oh that is so annoying. I was a receptionist for a few years and I got rude people too. Why do people think it's okay to be so rude to random strangers? Way lame.
haha.. oh my gosh- that's hilarious! people really are crazy. i work in the ER so i have to deal with some impatient people, too, who think they are "dying" even though they're not!
