Who let the DOG out?!

This might be the strangest of all Unsolved Mysteries. Its chilling and scary and.... MYSTERIOUS! Let me fill you in.. So every single day, i do the same thing with the dogs. When its time for me to leave, i grab two little peices of some sort of treat and lead them into the kennel in our bathroom, they both jump in it, i hand them a treat and lock em in. I even say "Bye babies, I love you!!" Yesterday at lunch..went like anyday, I even gave them a really YUMMY treat to lure them in. I locked em in, said what i say, walked into the living room and straightened up my pillows, gathered my things and left back for work. So after work I went to the gym, then to Kroger, so it was about 6:15 when I get home. Dusty doesn't get home until about 7:30 so i know he wouldn't be home yet. I opened the garage door, and i hear Gus's tail wagging and smacking the laundry room door right by me. The house was pitch black so i paused and thought "Um. who let the dogs out?? OH I must not have latched the kennel door! OH NO they probably destroyed the house!!" So i turn on the light and sure enough there stands Gus in my laundry room wagging his tail. But then i think "well, where is Ellie?" I walk through the house dreading to see what has been chewed up, but everything is perfectly how I left it, the pillows still placed Just So, and a cup of orange juice on the coffee table hasn't even been licked at. So i walk through to my bathroom where Gus leads me... AND ELLIE IS LOCKED IN THE KENNEL! **CHILLS**. I just stood there, mouth open, thinking "WHAT IN THE WORLD!?!?!" for a good 5 minutes. Then i felt scared that someone was in my house. But then what kind of criminal breaks into a house to play a trick on my mind like that? Then i think, maybe this is my fault and i didn't lock him up with her? But that is a totally OBSURD thing because if I had done that, don't you think I would have heard him walking behind me as I left? NO. I REMEMBER handing them the yummy treat THROUGH the crate bars. How did this happen?? I tried to think of EVERY logical explanation and can't think of ONE. Dusty laughed and thinks I'm insane...It still baffles me. I am so confused!!! i KNOW i wouldn't just not lock him up with her. totally baffling. So sing it with me... WHOOO LET THE DOG OUT! WHO!? WHO WHO WHO!?!
